Rene is the newest Managing Director at the Chasm Group having joined after nearly a decade in executive management for several well-known enterprise software companies and a previous long career in marketing consulting.

Rene has significant hands-on experience in building business and marketing strategies for vendors to Global 2000 companies. He has particular expertise in understanding the technology needs of large companies as well as small to medium sized businesses. Through his many years of consulting work he has learned a great deal about how companies of all kinds use technology to their advantage.

Rene's work with clients is generally targeted at developing and validating business strategy, brand positioning, and go-to-market strategies. More often than not he teams with the client CEO, CMO or head of Sales to create advantage with both strategy and creative tactical initiatives. He also specializes in helping U.S. based high tech companies design and rollout successful strategies in European and Asian markets. While his early consulting career focused on segment creation strategies with such companies as Apple Computer, today he is helping many companies reinvent themselves. In both his consulting and corporate career, Rene has equally enjoyed working in large company or start-up environments.

Rene White has spent 25 years marketing high technology and consumer products. His work spans a spectrum of industries and a variety of sizes of enterprises from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies. He has consulted with companies from high tech and telecommunications to life sciences and logistics. His help has ranged from business strategy and go-to-market planning to product development and brand building.

Currently his work includes companies in the online business management, semiconductor, broadband services and enterprise software industries.

Before Chasm Group

For more than 8 years before joining The Chasm Group, Rene held leadership positions in companies marketing enterprise software to global 2000 customers. For nearly 18 years, he had a highly successful marketing consulting career working with many well-known brand name companies.

Rene was Senior Vice President Worldwide Marketing for Interwoven Software (NASDAQ symbol IWOV) a leading supplier of software for website content management. Prior to joining Interwoven, he led global marketing for TIBCO Software (NASDAQ symbol TIBX). Rene began his corporate career at Oracle Corporation where he served as Vice President, Solutions Marketing and Training. Prior to Oracle, Rene was a consultant with Regis McKenna, Inc. where he worked with many well-known technology companies and launched several high profile categories including personal computers (Apple), spread sheet software (VisiCalc), semiconductors (Intel), CAE (Daisey Systems), UNIX workstations (Sun Microsystems) and genetic engineering (Genentech and Cetus).

In 1988, he founded his own marketing consulting firm, White & Company. His clients included Federal Express; Iomega, launching the Zip drive – the most successful high tech consumer product launch of 1995; Pacific Telesis, helping reposition their residential voicemail product; Ikon Systems, where he guided the company repositioning to a technology systems integrator; and GTE Mobilnet, where he designed consumer customer loyalty programs and corporate customer relationship-building initiatives.

Education

Rene graduated with honors from California State University at Fullerton with a B.A. in Communications.
